Nicholas and Ian

Started in 19 September 2006 on a free blog hosting service, Blogger, it was then http://queercast.blogspot.com, where the usual suspects Nicholas Deroose and Ian Lee host their “almost” weekly podcast. They aim to become a public human voice for what is lacking in the gay community in Singapore, as well as to bring to people news relating to the gay community, packed with gossips and entertainment.

Using 2 microphones that costs only $10 each, they began broadcasting through the internet, without much knowledge of sound engineering and management.

On 1 October 2006, Jasper Chen, an editor as well as the web administrator of Plume, was dragged into the QueerCast team as the producer as Nicholas and Ian were self-confessed “techno-idiots”. With his help in the team, they sounded so much sexier.

Jasper ChenA new website on a new platform was planned early in December 2006, but because of commitment issues, all of the members in the team were unable to put down time and effort into realising the dream.

With some help from a QueerCast listener molepunch, he created numerous samples of the QueerCast logo for free, hoping that we’ll use it to create identity that will be recognised everywhere.

15 March 2007. Finally, while still running non-profit, the new website, QueerCast.Net was launched. With this new platform, we hope to become mainstream, such that our voice will be so much louder than before, creating awareness in both community and society, that our presence will come to be accepted widely one day.

Maintaining that vision, QueerCast carried on with another year of content production (to compensate human reproduction), with the name spreading like wildfire to audiences local and worldwide. Adding to the joy of a large audience, Emeric Lau, a self-proclaimed “hasbeen”, but still so ever fabulously bitchy, was added to the QueerCast clan.

The new addition: Emeric Lau

Together with him on board, it makes a quad-group enough for an orgy (hey I’m just saying), which in reality is nothing more than just good friends sharing a similiar vision: for the acceptance of the GLBT community here in Singapore.

About

Wickedly funny, senseless, yet informative - QueerCast is what you will need to spice up your dull straight-acting days with the colours of the rainbow. The "hopefully" weekly show delivers entertainment, community news and updates, uniquely Singaporean issues, or even the occasional personal jokes and rantings.
