Hey everyone! I’m Jasper the new techie guy that Nick and Ian had just employed (for free), and I need some feedbacks so I can make those two guys lower their voice octaves (they will basically just forget about it during recordings).

They wanted to sound really “sexy”. =D

How? I need your comments on the following lor:

1. The voice of Nick, a.k.a the next Mariah Carey.
2. Is the podcast too soft? (methinks the answer is a yes).
3. Is the amount of background noice acceptable? (We had vibrating dildos attached to our dicks mics =P)

Comments please! =D

    1. I think Nick’s voice is fine, comparing this with other podcasts, what sets QueerCast apart is the hi NRG level of the 2 hosts, especially the pace & tone of their voices, which is really important in keeping listeners interested & awake! having said that, maybe each time Nick feels like having an orgasmic scream, he can move the mike a bit further away so that it doesn’t frighten our younger listeners too much ;)

    2. volume - can it be adjusted at the technical end? or do Nick & Ian need more guidance (from Jasper) on how to grip the, erm, micks?

    3. level of background noice - thought it was fine, especially since the micks look like pretty decent quality ones. I remember, even with the fan on in the background, couldn’t even hear it on the podcast. YES having the vibrating dildoes attached to the micks (& other places) might be FUN too!

    Hi Jasper.

Nah, don’t do anything artificial to digitally manipulate Nic’s and Ian’s voice. Just let them be themselves, or it will not be real anymore…

If they wish, they can invite guests who are natural baritones/basses to balance the pitch ;)

The volume of the podcast seems ok, and I don’t recall hearing any background sounds either.

Overall: Good job! And kudos to all involved!

Well i have some experience.. its not miraculous, but it will help.. firstly the quality of the mic is very impt, if you wanna sexy voice, you gotta use a sensitive mic, but that will cause more pickup on the background noise.. it would help to put the mic nearer to the throat to pick up the lower (senseous) vibrations.. and also, naturally, the softer you speak, the lower your tone will be, so complimenting the mic as close to you as possible, and as maximise the pickup. you guys experiment yourself to find out the best “positions”..

    1. Nick, the next Mariah Carey? *faints* Ya, do not about the screaming part. At one part, I was jolted by the screamings.

    2. Yes x 100

    3. The background noise is alright for me.

    Hey Jasper,

I’ve only listened to episode three so far but all the voices seem to fade in and out. Throughout the cast I was either having to strain to hear what was being said because it was so soft to the other extreme of being pretty loud. Also, if all the voices were of the same level that would be great. Yangfa’s voice was pretty loud and distinct, Nick sounded like he was sitting further away so more distance whilst the third guy sounded like he was on the other side of the room. But not wanting to sound overly critical it was still a great job and a good interview. Thanks!

Hey Simon thanks for your feedback! Well actually what happened was that we had 2 mics for 3 person to share. That’s why when some of them are talking they sounded like they are far from the mic.

We will be adding more mics in time to come, and we are also outsourcing for better mics rather than those that we are using now.

And that third guy is Ian! =D

    Thanks for listening!
